CM reviews implementation of cabinet decisions

Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi gave the notification of the transfer of land for building the Talagang district complex to Punjab Assembly Member Hafiz Ammar Yasir on Wednesday.

The land of the agriculture department has been transferred to the district administration for the construction of the complex at the centre of the city for the convenience of local people.

The chief minister said on the occasion that he had fulfilled the promise by giving Talagang the district status. He said the construction of the district complex would begin soon.

Advocate General Ahmad Awais and acting Senior Member of Board of Revenue Naveed Hussain Shirazi were also present.

Chief Minister Perevaiz Elahi also presided over a four-hour meeting to review the progress made on the decisions of the provincial cabinet.

As per an official announcement, a record has been set by taking decisions on 371 agenda items in seven meetings of the incumbent cabinet, including 59 related to local governments, 45 housing, 42 home department, 34 revenue, 36 finance, 23 specialised healthcare and 19 for primary and secondary healthcare.

The chief minister said the public welfare projects should be completed without delay and no obstacle in this regard would be tolerated.

He said the necessary work for recruitment should be completed soon and the projects and hiring for the education and healthcare sectors should be prioritised.

The chief minister also issued directives for early completion of legislation to ensure good governance in government departments.

The CM said the fee for hunting chinkara for foreigners should be set at $25,000 in the next season.

He noted that the World Bank would give $200 million for the Punjab Affordable Housing Project to provide houses to government employees on retirement. He said 20 centres of excellence would be established under TEVTA. Vigilance would be done through drone technology in police and other departments, he said.

The meeting was informed that important projects would be completed in the province with foreign funding of $850 million, including the Punjab Open Land Enhancement System.

Work is in progress on 825 development projects and tenders have been issued for 323 local government schemes. Meanwhile, a 70% increase in registration has been noted after reducing the stamp duty.
