CTD arrests seven terror suspects

Out of 19,633 suspects, 96 arrested in various combing operations in one week

LAHORE:

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab arrested seven terror suspects during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the province.

A spokesman for the CTD said that 25 suspects were interrogated during the IBOs, out of which seven were arrested and identified as Shafiullah, Khalid Mahmood, Mohsin Waqar, Muhammad Usman, Sher Muhammad, Muhammad Luqman and Farooq.

CTD raid teams also seized five detonators, 12.5 feet of safety fuse wire, two cell phones, 39 pamphlets, stickers, a receipt book from an outlawed organization and Rs22,870 in cash from their possession. The spokesman added that seven FIRs were also registered against the terror suspects under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

During the current week, the Counter Terrorism Department and other law enforcement agencies conducted 433 combing operations and checked 19,633 suspects, while 96 accused were arrested. As many as 69 cases were also registered, the spokesperson added.
