IGP vows to boost security, cops’ morale

Warns of prompt action against unprofessionalism

The new Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP), Amir Zulfiqar Khan, has vowed to improve security measures in the province in view of the current situation of terrorism in the country, adding that elimination of anti-social elements would be accelerated under a proactive policy.

Addressing a media briefing after taking charge amid a brewing political crisis in Punjab on Thursday, he said special measures would be taken to raise the morale of the police so that the officials performing field duty in particular could continue serving more diligently.

He said supremacy of the constitution and adherence to the law would be the main component of his policy, in the light of which the protection of life and property of the citizens and selfless service to them would be ensured.

The IGP said public order would be maintained in all circumstances along with a sense of security among the citizens.

He said the supervisory officers who would do good work would get the best postings, while there would be no delay in departmental and legal action against unprofessionalism.

He said the promotion of IT-based policing and modern global trends would be adopted to improve service delivery.

Answering questions of journalists, he said digital monitoring of cases of all categories would be adopted.
