The Sasta Bazaar established 10 years ago at the Chowk Chungi No. 22 under the Chaklala Cantonment Board, has been abolished with a week given for relocation of the bazaar while the vacated land of the bazaar has been made part of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Rawalpindi.
A model Sasta Bazaar was established for the citizens of the cantonment in 2013-14 through the assistance of former MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed at Chowk Chungi No. 22 with a grant from the Punjab Government.
The bazaar later turned into a bustling business hub in which a large number of permanent stalls, kiosks, paved paths and lighting were arranged. However, the Sasta Bazaar land owned by Chaklala Cantonment Board has been transferred to the CMH for further expansion of the hospital building adjacent to the said site.
As an alternative, a piece of land adjacent to the Suzuki stand has been given to the Chaklala Cantonment.
Meanwhile, one week has been given to relocate the shops, kiosks and stalls in the Sasta Bazaar.
