KARACHI:

The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has announced to hold country-wide rallies on Sunday to express solidarity with Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari over his response to his Indian counterpart J Shankir during the briefing in the United Nations.

The party has also appealed to other political parties to participate in the country-wide rallies to be held tomorrow and to express full solidarity with Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's statement because “this is not only an issue of a political party but a matter of honour for the entire country”.

This was announced in a joint press conference of Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Saftey Shazia Atta Marri and Sindh Minister for Irrigation and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon held at Clifton Karachi.

Shazia said that the statement of the Indian FM was a futile and irresponsible statement against Pakistan on which the FM of Pakistan gave him a strong and bold befitting response.

She said that Pakistan wants good relations with all South Asian countries and PPP has always supported better ties with neighbouring countries, but the current Indian government is only prompting hatred among the people.

She said that Foreign Minister Bilawal did not talk against or criticise the Indian government at first in the UN and Pakistan knows how to respond to such remarks of the Indian government. She added that calling Pakistan a centre of terrorism is propaganda of India and Pakistan strongly condemns such remarks.

She announced that PPP will hold rallies across the country in solidarity with Pakistan and the response of Foreign Minister Bilawal to his Indian counterpart against Pakistan and she appealed that all political parties should participate with them because “this is a day to show solidarity with Pakistan”.

Sharjeel said that the PPP chief responded to his Indian counterpart in a bold manner and the whole of India has been shaken by Bilawal's response.

He said that trains were set on fire at the behest of Narendra Modi in India while the footprints of all terrorist acts that happened in Pakistan led to India and the Modi government.

He further that Indian FM’s malicious propaganda campaign at the UN is highly regrettable and condemnable. He also lauded the response of Foreign Minister Bilawal as courageous and bold against the false accusation of India.
