The Custom Valuation Committee (CVC) was created in Faisalabad to facilitate speedy clearness of import shipments, based on the office in Karachi, said Collector Customs and Appraisement Muhammad Saeed Watto.
He visited the office of the Faisalabad Dyes and Chemicals Merchants Association (FDCMA) with Chairman Faisalabad Dry Port Trust (FDPT) Muzammil Sultan on Saturday. He said that various measures were taken to facilitate import and export from the FDPT for the speedy clearance of consignments.
Watto added that reports issued by the Karachi-based laboratory would be accepted for the clearance of shipments in Faisalabad. Muzammil announced an 80 percent concession in demurrage charges and requested importers to avail this opportunity by clearing their consignments without any further delay. He added that free-stacking facilities would also be offered to importers in view of the limited availability of dollars.
