40% children in Punjab malnourished

Minister says research will help in initiating dialogue with the relevant government departments

LAHORE:

As many as 40 per cent of the children in Punjab are malnourished, Specialised Healthcare Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has conceded.

Addressing a ceremony held to announce the research results of a collaborative project of the School Milk Programme (SMP), she said the findings had reflected that children’s heights and weights had increased after the scheme was initiated.

The research would help in initiating dialogue with the relevant government departments, she said.
