Indian actor Veena Kapoor rubbished rumours going on about how she was murdered by her son, director Abishekh Chaddha. The veteran actor shared that she was distressed with the number of condolence messages that came her way when a woman sharing the same name as her was killed by her son in Juhu, and people, including publications, assumed it was her.

Kapoor, who is hale and healthy, registered a complaint at Dindoshi police station on Wednesday after the fake news of her death went viral on social media along with her picture. In her statement, she said that the person who was killed was someone else and that they share the same name. She also added that her son has been receiving blame and rude messages for committing such an inhumane act.

Incidentally, the woman who died had acted in a Punjabi serial with Kapoor in their early days. In a conversation with Mid-day, Kapoor revealed that her phone hasn’t stopped ringing ever since the viral news which has affected her work terribly. “I haven’t been able to concentrate on my work. I urge people to not believe such rumours,” she said adding that due to the baseless rumours, she has stopped receiving new work too.

Her son, Chadda also further added that he was subjected to calls with allegations of him killing his mother. “I cannot even dream of such a thing and felt sick after reading the news. Please, don’t believe any such news. My mother is very much alive.” Kapoor has worked in numerous TV shows such as Meri Bhabhi, Ajooni, Bandhan Pheron Ke among others. Like4:15 pm
