Ex-lawmaker’s house attacked for third time
Extortionists have taken Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) firmly in their grip as on Tuesday the residence of former provincial minister was attacked for a third time in Peshawar.
Police told The Express Tribune that unidentified miscreants threw a hand grenade at the residence of Haji Javed in Gulbahar. His house had been attacked on Sunday too with a grenade. His house was attacked a few years ago too.
Police said that it is without any doubt a case of extortion.
“On Sunday morning two bike riders threw a hand grenade at the building which landed at the lawn but failed to explode. It was later defused by the BDU,” said a police official, adding that once again the house was at- tacked on Tuesday night with a home made IED.
“It landed at an under construction area of the house and exploded with a big bang but there is no loss of life in the attack,” he added.
Police registered an FIR and started investigation in the case.
Kidnapper caught
In a separate incident, local residents foiled an attempt to kidnap a minor girl in Regi area of Peshawar.
They intercepted the abductor, recovered the child and took his vehicle into their possession. The mob severally drubbed the accused before handing him over to police.
“The accused has been identified as Akhtar Ali, resident of Jamrud, Khyber tribal district,” said a police official, adding that he was taking the small girl in his motorcar when detected by local residents who chased him and stopped his car.
“The child was recovered by locals who informed police about it but the accused was severally tortured and police saved his life,” he observed.
