At least three people were killed and five others were injured after a suspected suicide bomber blew himself up in North Waziristan's Miranshah town.
According to government sources, most of the casualties were pedestrians in the area.
The injured and the dead were shifted to DHQ Miranshah Hospital and the blast site was cordoned off by security officials.
An investigation was initiated by law enforcement personnel in addition to a search operation in the area.
The suspected attacker was riding a motorcycle. However, there were conflicting reports regarding the target.

Last month, four people, including a policeman and a woman and her son, died
while more than two dozen others sustained injuries in a powerful blast in Quetta’s Baleli area that targeted a police patrol, senior police officials said. The attack was claimed by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Earlier, the TTP said that they have called off a ceasefire agreement with the federal government in June and ordered its militants to stage terrorist attacks across the country.
‘Threat letter’
Meanwhile, a mysterious pool of suspected human blood was spotted in the Zandi Akbar Khan area in Lakki Marwat district along with a threat letter from a terrorist organisation called ‘Ittehad Mujahideen Khurasan’.
Fears are being expressed that the chilling amount of human blood indicated that it was saved from a possible decapitation of a human body as claimed by the militants in the letter.
“This spy who lies lifeless in front of you had confessed to betraying the mujahideen after we held him captive for two days. We have made a video of it as proof, which will be released soon,” the letter read.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, unidentified individuals set fire to the machinery of a private mobile phone tower in a remote area of the district.
The police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
The flames of the machinery in the tower could be seen from far away. However, despite the passage of an entire day, the police officials have been unable to provide any details.
