After Saba Qamar, Hadiqa Kiani fell prey to impersonation online. Celebrities usually don’t mind fan accounts and even appreciate them but users should not take advantage of their name and fandom to find an audience for their malign thoughts. The Dobara actor clarified that all her accounts are verified with a blue tick mark.
On Wednesday, Kiani took to her Instagram Story to request her fans and followers to report a Twitter account impersonating her. “Someone using the name @HadiqaKiani0 is impersonating me on Twitter. Please report,” she wrote.
She went on to add how she never pays heed to such things but had to call this out since it was posting things that do not align with her ideology and work. “Normally I’m not even bothered after being impersonated countless times, but this person is posting horrific photos of children using my name! What motivates people to go to such lengths is impossible for me to understand,” read her note.
To avoid further confusion, Kiani went on to list all the social media apps that she personally uses. “All of my accounts on social media are verified with a blue tick mark,” she concluded listing Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter as her active mediums.
Earlier last month, a social media user created a fake profile with Qamar’s name and purchased a verified account against it. The Kamli actor then posted a screenshot of her actual account to clarify that the impersonated one is a fake one and people should not fall for the blue tick. “This is my official Twitter handle so these small unknown pages should stop spreading fake information for the sake of being in the limelight,” she wrote.
