CM orders framework to extend facility to public amid deteriorating law, order

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) cabinet has approved the issuance of arms licences of prohibited bore to lawyers as chief minister directed formulating a mechanism to extend the same facility to the general public as well.

The decision was made at a meeting of provincial cabinet held on Tuesday with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair.

The important decision was taken due to the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.

The 84th meeting of the provincial cabinet was held in the cabinet room which was attended by provincial cabinet members, chief secretary, additional chief secretary, senior member board of revenue and concerned administrative secretaries.

K-P has launched nine economic zones and paperwork on five more has been in progress as an investment of Rs340 billion is expected in these economic zones. Similarly, 1,672 industrial units have been established, and 167 sick units have been revived. Moreover, 363 industrial plots have also been allotted in special economic zones.

Chief minister, while lauding the overall performance of K-P Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC), ordered result oriented steps to further improve the performance of EZDMC and to ensure the timely completion of the ongoing developmental projects.

The cabinet accorded approval to extend the tenure of the existing CEO, KP-EZDMC Javed Iqbal for a period of three years.

The forum decided to impose ban on the burning of tyres (using it as fire fuel) for industrial activities for a period of one year with the aim to curtail environmental pollution.

The cabinet also okayed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mineral Auction Rules 2022. Similarly, the cabinet gave its nod to the holding of digital literacy training for provincial cabinet members to promote e-governance.

The cabinet also extended the tenure of 80 Muawin Qazis of Malakand division in the light of para-6 of Sharia Nizam Adal Regulations.

Moreover, the forum also approved the establishment of a special unit for the investigation of sexual crimes in all the districts under anti-rape (investigation & trial) Act-2021.

The cabinet also accorded approval to the establishment of seven sports grounds on auqaf land in Mardan, including 50-kanal ground near Women University Mardan, 30-kanal ground in Shahbaz Ghari, 50- kanal ground in Ghalla Dher, 30-canal ground in Shamat Pur, 20-kanal ground in Turu Khas, 40-kanal ground in Kandar, and 66-kanal ground in Muhib Banda.

Similarly, the cabinet also approved the up-gradation of Swabi Sports Complex on 30 kanal lease land of Auqaf.

The cabinet also approved the appointment of Hifzur Rehman as a technocrat member of the Local Government Commission.

The meeting approved Tehsil Council (Procedure for conduct of Business and meetings) byelaws 2022.

The provincial cabinet granted the transfer of 24.11 marla land from police department to communication and works department for the construction of road at Mohallah Qaziabad of UC Malikpura, district Abbotabad.

Likewise, the cabinet approved the establishment of new tehsil Talash in Dir Lower district besides new tehsil named Utmankhel in district Malakand and another new tehsil named Tanaol in district Mansehra.
