FIA arrests dollar smugglers in separate raids

Officials say they were striving for economic stability by stopping the smuggling of dollars

The federal government has tightened its belt to prevent the smuggling of dollars as the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) teams conducted operations in Peshawar as well as DI Khan and arrested several people and recovered foreign and Pakistani currency worth millions of rupees.

FIA officials told The Express Tribune that they were striving for economic stability by stopping the smuggling of dollars, and all possible measures were being taken for the purpose.

According to details, the continuous increase in the value of the dollar is having a profound impact on the country's economy. The government has ordered the FIA and related agencies to start a large-scale operation.

During the raids in Peshawar and DI Khan, dozens of people involved in dollar smuggling were arrested and millions of rupees worth of foreign and Pakistani currencies were recovered, while many shops and private places involved in the illegal business of hundi were sealed.
