Severity of cold to increase at night in Karachi

City will remain under the influence of northeasterly winds from Balochistan, says PMD

The weather is likely to remain dry during the day and cold at night in Karachi for the next three days, the met office warned on Sunday.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department's (PMD) Early Warning Centre, the southwesterly sea breeze in Karachi will halt whereas the city will remain under the influence of northeasterly winds from Balochistan.

It said that the minimum temperature may be recorded between 15 and 17 degrees during the next three days in the metropolis, while predicting foggy mornings in upper Sindh.

Meanwhile, the air of Karachi continues to be unhealthy as it was ranked the fourth most polluted city in the world, according to the air quality index.

The number of polluted particles in the atmosphere of Karachi was recorded at 195 particulate metres on Sunday.

The ranking was topped by Kazakhstan's Bishkek at 255 particulate metres followed by India's New Delhi at 227. India's Kolkatta was ranked the third most polluted city with 205 particulate metres.

As per the classification, pollution from 151 to 200 levels is harmful to health, pollution from 201 to 300 levels is dangerously harmful, and more than 301 levels is hazardous pollution.
