Court orders introduction of a modern system to eliminate ghosts and absentee teachers

The Sindh education secretary has informed the Sindh High Court that the education department has identified 1,645 teachers who are absent from the duty, out of which 1,481 have been issued show cause notices.

A hearing was held in the High Court regarding the ghost teachers of the Education Department.

While submitting a written report, the education secretary said that the action against the absent teachers would be taken by December 31. The court questioned why no action was taken against the ghost teachers before the court order. The court expressed displeasure at not getting a satisfactory response. The court inquired about what modern procedures have been adopted to ensure the attendance of teachers and students.

Chief Secretary and education secretary said in a statement that a biometric system is necessary for the attendance of teachers and students.

The court ordered introduction of a modern system to eliminate ghosts and absentee teachers.
