A variety of unique art and handcrafted products made by women were showcased at a festival held to cherish the skills of Pakistani women in the federal capital.
The two-day event was organised with the support of a private gallery at a local hotel in connection with International Human Rights Day on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Austrian Ambassador to Pakistan Andrea Wicke appreciated the skills of Pakistani women and said they were amazing artists. She said the artwork created by these women was unmatched. No one can put a price on craftwork because once a craft is created, the skill and artistry of the craftsperson are unparalleled, she added. The envoy said women of Pakistan are very hardworking and they know their business very well.
On the occasion, decorative items with delicate artwork on them and handbags decorated with embroidery became centre of attraction.
The festival also aimed to promote the artwork of skilled people from different communities from across the country.
A large number of stalls were set up by artisans to display handmade items and scores of foreign and local art lovers visited the stalls and appreciated their work.
The organiser Nageen Hayat told The Express Tribune that they were highlighting the Pakistani culture to promote its soft image abroad.
