974 'missing persons' in detention, 616 in prisons, SC told

The Missing Persons Commission submitted a report to the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday, revealing that 974 people declared missing were in detention centres, while 616 in prisons.

According to the report, 81 people reached their homes in November.

A total of 9,133 missing person complaints were received, and the commission traced 5,574 of them while 3,743 reached their homes, it added.

The report said that a total of 241 bodies of missing persons were found.

It also said that a total of 6,926 missing persons cases had been dealt with, while 2,207 cases of missing persons were pending as of November 30.

In November, the commission received 98 cases while 101 were disposed of, the report added.
