A China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition unveils unusual display of Chinese culture and traditional craftsmanship at Alhamra Arts Council.
The two-day exhibition began under the aegis of the Chinese consulate on Wednesday.
It exhibits pieces of Chinese crafts, like chasing cloud bow, colour-printed floral cloth, Weifang leading kite, black pottery pen container, stone carving Kylin, Zhangqiu black pottery vase, traditional wood carving and combs, woodcarving Confucius, Taishan clay sculpture, lantern, Chinese knot, folding fan, dry flower decoration, Chinese style floor lamp, Confucius Wang Xizhi calligraphy and Hanfu hangers.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Chinese Consul General in Lahore Zhao Shiren said, “The exhibition is a head start to engendering deeper cultural harmony among the people of Pakistan and China because the more we are integrated, knowing each other’s heritage, craftsmanship, culture as well as intangible intellectual wealth, the more we will be doing better in lockstep.”
In order to consolidate such a cultural bond between Pakistan and China, the consulate will continue to hold such thematic exhibitions with more improved versions, he added.
“The exhibition is a heartfelt effort to offer people of Lahore the essence of Chinese intangible heritage spanning thousands of years that consists of non-physical intellectual wealth relating to beliefs, traditions and customs,” he maintained.
Next year, he said, will mark the China-Pakistan Year of Tourism and Exchanges, and China is scheduled to host the Gandhara Art Exhibition in Beijing. “I wish this small exhibition will make a good start for the China-Pakistan Year of Tourism and Exchanges, and make our peoples’ hearts beat together,” he said.
