Three flour mills’ quota suspended

The food department suspended the wheat quota of three flour mills for failing to supply flour to the market on Sunday.
In line with directives of the district administration regarding strict monitoring of flour mills, the food department launched a crackdown under the supervision of Deputy Director Asif Raza.
Officials visited different mills to check wheat quota and flour supply and identified mills involved in misappropriation of the government wheat quota by supplying less flour in the market. The officer suspended the quota of three mills and also imposed a Rs286,000 fine on one mill and Rs75,000 on another.
The deputy director issued a show-cause notice to another mill over failing to supply flour to the market as per the government wheat quota. Speaking on the occasion, Asif Raza said the provincial government provided wheat to the mills to supply flour to the public at controlled rates.
He denied claims about flour shortages in Multan and added that an ample quantity of flour was available at all sale points.
