Sindh govt submits copy of SC order to vacate the college building

Sindh High Court has called for arguments from the parties in a case pertaining to contempt of court regarding the issue of not vacating Islamia College.

Sindh government submitted a copy of Supreme Court order in the court. The court called for arguments from the parties on January 19, 2023 and directed the public prosecutor to appear with full preparation.

The Sindh government had taken stand that the Supreme Court had ordered to vacate Islamia College on December 18, 2019. Rent Controls East was approached to implement the Supreme Court order.

On the day when the Chief Rent Controller was to pronounce the judgment of the case, the case was transferred to another court.

The Supreme Court had ordered to vacate college in any case. The Supreme Court also ordered to clear dues including college rent, utility bills and arrears.

Sindh government had obtained a stay order from the Sindh High Court on the Supreme Court's decision by misrepresenting.

Advocate General Sindh has apologised unconditionally to the Supreme Court for the wrong statement.

Sindh High Court had directed to present the final order of Supreme Court.
