Police launched a major operation and arrested 36 suspects, including the ring-leader of a notorious inter-provincial gang Muzamil alias Mimi. Stolen property worth over Rs48.5 million was seized from the possession of the arrested accused.
The arrested suspects were wanted by police in dozens of crimes, including robbery, smuggling and theft. Cash, cars, motorcycle, solar panels, petrol engines, mobile phones, 25 pistols, 13 rifles and drugs were also recovered from the accused.
Police arrested the gang from Kirk, a town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province. The accused reportedly used to flee to KPK after committing crimes in different cities of Punjab. DPO Bhakkar Captain (retd) Muhammad Ajmal held a press conference at District Police Line Bhakkar on Thursday, which was also attended by SP Investigation Allah Nawaz Khan, DSP Klorkot Circle Muhammad Kashif Masood, SHOs Klorkot Circle and other officers.
Addressing media representatives, DPO Bhakkar said that after taking charge, he reviewed the problems and challenges faced by the people of Bhakkar regarding policing from every aspect. He took immediate notice of theft, robbery and smuggling in the city. He added that a special team, consisting of in-charge check post Dajal, was formed under the leadership of DSP and SHO Klorkot circle. The team was tasked with preventing theft, robbery, snatching and smuggling, as well as tracking and arresting gangs and recovering the stolen goods.
The team worked day and night under the supervision of DPO Bhakkar and tracked and arrested accused involved in theft, robbery and smuggling and seized a tanker worth Rs20 million, 14 motorcycles worth Rs1.2 million, 17 solar panels worth Rs1 million, a mobile phone worth Rs400,000 and other stolen goods worth Rs3 million, while Rs133,000 in cash was recovered.
Around 25 illegal pistols, 13 illegal rifles, 6.55kgs of narcotics, 370 litres of alcohol, smuggled Iranian diesel worth Rs6.4 million, urea fertilizer worth Rs1.4 million and wheat and flour worth Rs8.7 million were recovered from the possession of the accused.
