With the acceleration of construction of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), there is a strong wave of international investment, led by Chinese enterprises, in Pakistan, stated SM Naveed, Chairman Special Economic Zones Authority.
“Our textile, leather, pharmaceutical and surgical instrument industries are among the best globally and their products are exported all over the globe,” he said during an executive body meeting at the Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) Secretariat on Monday.
Naveed emphasised that large-scale transfer of China’s modern industries would drive industrial modernisation in Pakistan and help boost exports of advanced industrial products. “It will bring a large amount of foreign exchange income and enhance the country’s financial strength.”
According to the CPEC Authority, the main sectors in which Chinese companies can establish their industrial units in Pakistani SEZs include textile, footwear, pharmaceutical and information technology.
