Over a dozen students booked for beating up professor in Karachi

Professor stopped a student from taking the exam due to zero attendance on which his party members attacked him

KARACHI:

Police on Monday booked 15 activists of a student organisation, including a girl, for torturing their teacher at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Gulshan Iqbal campus located within the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station in Karachi.

Microbiology Assistant Professor told the police that he had stopped a student from taking the exam due to zero attendance on which his party members attacked him.

Upon receiving the information about the incident, a heavy contingent of police and Rangers reached the university campus and rounded up 15 students and shifted them to the police station.

Aziz Bhatti police station SHO Adeel Afzal said that activists of a student organisation had attacked Professor Sherwani. He said as per the victim, attendance of one of the student was zero, and therefore he was not eligible to sit in the exam.

Police have registered FIRs against the students creating their criminal record both in the police and the Nadra records.
