Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar has emphasised that Pakistan attaches great importance to its longstanding relations with South Africa and is looking forward to further deepening bilateral ties under the Look Africa Initiative.
He noted that trade between the two countries did not match the actual potential and underlined the dire need for rationalising things to find out direct ways for exchange of goods to save time and money.
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment is organising the 3rd Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition from November 29 to December 1, 2022 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In that connection, the commerce minister held a meeting with South Africa High Commissioner M Madikiza at the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.
Total trade between Pakistan and South Africa stood at $2.07 billion in financial year 2021-22, of which exports from Pakistan amounted to $238.82 million and imports came in at $1.83 billion.
