KU introduces new four-year degree programme

main objective of the Nutrition and Dietetics course is to create awareness about foods related to human health

KARACHI:

The University of Karachi (KU) has started admissions in the newly introduced four-year BS Human Nutrition and Dietetics programme this year to cater with the problems of food security, poverty, unhealthy food and hunger, arises due to the Covid-19 and flood situation.

According to details, due to the increase in the number of diabetic patients, heart diseases, lack of physical activity, unhealthy diet and lifestyle in the country, KU has introduced a new four-year BS Human Nutrition and Dietetics programme in the Department of Food Science and Technology and opened the admissions for it.

The main objective of the Nutrition and Dietetics course is to create awareness about foods related to human health that can be consumed as medicine and protect against diseases.

Syed Muhammad Ghufran Saeed, Assistant Professor of Food Science Department of University of Karachi, said that this new nutrition course was introduced after observing the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic and recent flooding on the humans.
