A Lahore accountability court granted interim pre-arrest bail to former chief minister Punjab and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Buzdar on Saturday in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry against “assets beyond known sources of income”.
The PTI leader had submitted a petition for pre-arrest bail in the court through Barrister Momin Malik who argued that NAB had already initiated another inquiry of the same nature.
He feared that indicting one person in the multiple cases of same nature shows that the watchdog wanted to arrest the former chief minister.
Special Prosecutor Waris Ali Janjua argued on behalf of the anti-graft body in the court.
Judge Malik Ali Zulqarnain Awan allowed bail till Nov 30 - subject to furnishing surety bonds of half a million rupees.
The court also directed NAB to submit a written response at the next hearing.
