Punjab govt to submit reply in Ramzan Sugar Mills case
Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Justice Anwaarul Haq Pannun has directed the provincial government to submit its reply on a plea challenging the Excise department’s conduct when Ramzan Sugar Mills was not being issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) despite the beginning of the crushing season.
The petitioner’s counsel implored the court that the DCO office has issued NOC to them but the aforementioned department seems reluctant to do so, which actually is causing a huge loss to the farmers.
He requested the court to direct the concerned quarters to issue the NOC so that they could continue their work at the sugar mill.
On a point, Justice Pannun expressed his displeasure over the non-submission of a reply by the government. However, the court directed the Punjab government to submit its reply by next week.
The petitioner, representatives of the Ramzan Sugar Mills, had filed a petition in LHC, wherein they challenged the conduct of the concerned department.
