PBS fleet of 10 buses comes to Hyderabad

HYDERABAD:

Ten new buses of Peoples Bus Service have been delivered to Hyderabad. Sindh Mass-transit Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon will formally inaugurate the Peoples Bus Service at Hyder Chowk on Saturday at 3pm, RTA officials said.

The route of PBS has initially been fixed from busiest Hyder Chowk to Hattari Bypass. There will be 13 stops on Hattari Bypass from Hyder Chowk till Hattari Police Station, while the fare of this 15km route has also been temporarily at Rs50 only.

Officials said that the depot of Peoples Bus Service has been temporarily established in the office of the District Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Hyderabad, located at Old Wahdat Colony Road which has ample place to park buses in its ground.

Meanwhile, speed breakers have been removed on the routes of the buses. City authorities cut down overarching branches of trees on the famous Thandi Sarak (Cool Street). The street is known for the shade of ages old trees that provide relief to travelers in extreme heat.

During the trimming of trees, Thandi Sarak and Court Road experienced the worst traffic jams. Meanwhile, the electricity supply in the area was suspended for four to five hours to avoid a possible accident.

The staffs of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) and Hyderabad Electric Supply Corporation (HESCO) were busy in cutting the trees and their branches coming out on both sides of road from Thandi Sarak to Hyder Chowk. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the Court Road, while the traffic police officers were absent from the scene which caused quarels among commuters.

Sindh government is revising the BRT Yellow Line project to expand its outreach to more areas so that a larger number of commuters could benefit from the modern and better transport facilities. This decision was shared by Sindh Minister of Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon to World Bank Transport Specialist Bilal Paracha, who called on him on Friday.
