A man, Umar Gondal, allegedly killed his nine-year-old daughter and his lady friend and then he hanged himself to death in the area of Badli Wala in Khushab, police said.
On immediate notice of the DPO of Khushab, Asadur Rehman, the personnel from the City Police Station shifted the bodies to the tehsil headquarters hospital for postmortem.
According to police sources, the investigators believed that objection from the suspected murderer’s daughter over his involvement with his lady friend might have prompted him to take his daughter’s life.
The investigators surmised that the suspect might have felt guilty over what he had done which then forced him to kill his lady friend and then hang himself.
According to the area people, the husband of deceased Safia and the wife of Umar had died sometime ago.
After the information, local police and crime scene team reached the spot and started investigation.
According to a press release issued by the spokesman for the district police, Haris Rehman, there was an incident of suicide after murders in Badli Wala Khushab.
According to the district police, investigation was underway, and it was looking into all aspects of the incident to ascertain if this was indeed a case of murder-cum-suicide.
The DPO of Khushab, Asadur Rehman, sought a report from the DSP of Saddar Police Station.
In March 2021, a man had reportedly committed suicide after allegedly killing his wife and three children due to poverty in Rahim Yar Khan.
Police said Ram Chand, a resident of Chak 135, committed suicide by cutting his vein after killing his wife and three children with a sharp instrument due to domestic disputes over poverty. The police took the bodies into custody and transported them to a hospital for autopsy. After the medical and legal procedures were completed, the last rites of the five members of the same family were performed.
A murder case had been registered on the complaint of Tirtha Ram against his brother-in-law Ram Chand, while the police had started investigating the incident.
Ram Chand was a resident of Chak 135P. He used to work as a tailor. He was poor because he had not worked for a long time and was frustrated by the quarrels within the family caused by his financial problems.
On the night of the incident, he allegedly cut the throats of his wife and three children with a sharp instrument. After that, Ram Chand himself cut his veins with the murder weapon.
When the neighbours did not receive a response after repeated knocks on the door of the house in the morning, they broke it down with the help of other locals and found the woman and children dead, while Ram Chand was critically injured.
