Measures weighed up ahead of tourists influx in Murree
Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari on Saturday reviewed the arrangements ahead of snowfall in Murree to ensure the best facilities for tourists and avoid any debacle like last year.
He presided over a meeting regarding snowfall season at the DPO office in the hill station.
Murree Assistant Commissioner Sahibzada Yusuf, Murree SDPO Sardar Azhar, Murree Traffic DSP, Rescue 1122 in-charge and NHA officials attended the meeting.
The representatives of all institutions briefed the huddle about their arrangements and initiatives for the winter.
Rawalpindi CPO issued instructions regarding the arrangements to ensure the smooth running of affairs and said that the traffic arrangements must be made foolproof. The officer also stressed the need for smooth coordination between all the departments. We all have to provide the best service in our respective fields, he said adding that timely measures should be taken in view of the weather conditions.
He further instructed that all agencies including the police, district administration, highways authority and rescue officials must provide 24/7 service to residents and tourists.
Before the snow season, all relevant departments should recheck their operations so that problems can be resolved in time.
Participants of the meeting briefed that a quick response system has been put in place in all areas by constituting teams. The CPO instructed that a meeting should be held with hotels associations to best facilitate tourists. He said that all measures are being taken to ensure safe and pleasant travel of the tourists.
Last year, at least 22 people stranded in their vehicles had succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning as their vehicles got trapped in the snow.
