Automatic umbrellas to be installed at shrines

Chief minister orders completion of Data Darbar water supply scheme in two weeks

LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has approved the installation of automatic umbrellas in the compounds of the shrines of Data Ganj Bakhsh in Lahore and Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar in Pakpattan.

Chairing a meeting related to the Auqaf department, the CM ordered completion of the water supply scheme of Data Darbar in two weeks.

He was informed that 1,500 feet long water supply line out of the total length of 4,000 feet had been replaced, while the rest of the work was going on in full swing.

The chief minister also approved the construction of a multi-storey parking plaza, which would be linked with Data Darbar’s basement through an underground passage. It will also be linked through an overhead bridge for pedestrians. Visitors, parking their vehicles in the plaza will use the bridge to cross the road, and a modern security system will be installed at the parking facility.

The CM announced that the remodelling and and elevation of the Data Darbar Chowk would be done.

He said an initial plan for upgrading facilities at the Baba Farid Darbar had also been chalked out.

Sharing the details, he said an overhead bridge would be built along with a parking plaza for visitors. He also ordered early completion of the provision of facilities for visitors, including the upgrade of the dispensary and almonry of the Ganj Shakar shrine.

Facilities at the Baba Moj Darya shrine would also be completed soon, he added.

The chief minister said funds had been released for special allowance announced for the department’s employees.

Educational institutions

Speaking to a delegation of the Forman Christian College university, the chief minister said the educational role of every private institution was valuable and their problems would be solved.

He said free education was being given up to the graduation level in Punjab to ensure that needy students could fully benefit from modern educational opportunities.
