LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has directed the police and administration officials to make the best security arrangements for a PTI-led long march caravan on the route from Toba Tek Singh.

Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf leader Asad Umer will lead the caravan from Toba Tek Singh. It will pass Jhang, Faisalabad, Jaranwala, Chiniot and other cities before reaching Rawalpindi.

Meanwhile, the long march starting from Wazirabad will reach Rawalpindi through its planned route.

As per an official statement, PTI chairman Imran Khan will address the participants of the long march by video link.

While presiding over a meeting, the CM stressed foolproof security arrangements for the long march. "We will also provide the best security to the participants of the long march on the Toba Tek Singh route," he said.

The chief minister said the route would be monitored through drone and CCTV cameras and police commandos would be deployed on the roofs of buildings along the way.

He asserted that special arrangements would be made to maintain law and order, and the security plan would be implemented in the letter and spirit.

The CM said excellent food arrangements should be made for the officials deputed on duty and the police control room would work continuously.

The chief minister disclosed that focal persons had been appointed in every district along the route in consultation with the PTI leadership and high-level security would be provided to the political leaders and the participants of the long march. He issued directives to ensure the use of bulletproof rostrum and shields on the container leading the march.
