Call for widespread use of robotic surgery
The first International Robotic Surgery Symposium concluded at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) on Saturday which was attended by around 600 local and foreign health professionals.
Dr. Irfan Rizvi from the United States, who conducted the symposium, said that robotic surgery is a paradigm shift from modern care to standard care. He stressed the need for widespread use of robotic surgery.
Dr. Aamir Jaffrey of the Center of Bioethics and Culture highlighted ethical issues in the field of medicine. Dr. Aimal Khan, a colorectal surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, USA, spoke about the use of robotic surgery related to colon.
Other speakers included Dr. Mark Slack and Dr. Paul Roberts of CMR Surgical UK, Dr. Mehmood Ayaz of King Edward Medical University Lahore and Dr. Shehryar Ghazanfar of Dow University of Health Sciences. Dr. Haris Hasan Qureshi and Dr. Pradeep Kumar of SIUT were also among the speakers.
