Punjab-wide PTI protests continue unabated

Protesters block roads at nine points

LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and supporters continued to stage protest demonstrations in different parts of provincial capital and other cities of the province against assassination attempt on former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Wazirabad.

A large number of protesters gathered at Shahdara, an important entry and exit point of Lahore to travel to Islamabad using GT Road, Babau Sabu interchange, another important exit and entry point to reach M2 motorway, Thokar Niaz Beg, another exit and entry point leading to and from Multan, Harbancepura Ring Road, Bhatta Chowk, Liberty Chowk, Shingai Bridge Ferozpur Road, Faisal Chowk Mall Road and Abdullah Gill interchange.

On Saturday, the protesters also blocked roads at over nine points, including main entry and exit points of the city leading to worst traffic jams. Addressing a large number of protesters at Liberty Chowk on Saturday, PTI Secretary General Asad Umar demanded transparent investigation of the assassination attempt on Imran Khan.

He said nation would not remain silent when their leader is attacked. Gun shots were heard were heard from different directions.

Umar Ayub said automatic firearms were used in the incident, he said and pointed out that after armed attack of the Imran Khan, an attempt is continuously made to give this incident a colour of religious extremism.

Asad said how long they can stop registering the FIR, the case will be registered sooner or later.

Commenting on the statement of the ISPR, he said, all patriots were standing here.

Imran Khan wanted to see a strong army. He wants to have the strong institution as it is in the best interest of the country.

PTI Central Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid and Secretary Information Andleeb Abbas said the whole nations is condemning armed attack on Imran Khan. People have taken to the street and expressing solidarity with their leader.

“The party and people of Pakistan have decided to send the imported rulers in packing.

PTI leaders said enemies of Pakistan had opened fire on Imran Khan,” she said.

“Pakistan has been pushed into this situation owing to the imported government imposed in the country.
