BHAKKAR:

A pilot project was launched in Bhakkar to educate children who were unable to attend school due to financial constraints.

The district administration, education department, the Private Schools Management Association (PSMA) and philanthropists are enrolling children unable to study in private schools. An MoU signing ceremony between the Education Department and the PSMA was also held.

Commissioner Maryam Khan, CEO Education, President PSMA, students, parents and philanthropists attended the signing ceremony.

According to the MoU, the hundreds of children unable to receive an education due to financial constraint are being admitted in over three hundred PSMA member schools. These children will be provided free education, books, uniform and commuting facilities up until matriculation.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner Maryam Khan said that providing education resources to children is the responsibility of the state and the state is fulfilling these duties well. In this regard, the role of public and private educational institutions is also worthy of praise. An educated nation is the guarantee of progress.

Committees are being formed at Tehsil, District and Division level to monitor these children, while constant contact will be maintained with their parents so that the children continue their education and become dignified members of society. Commissioner Khan told The Express Tribune that if this pilot project is successful, it will be adopted in other districts of Punjab. She urged parents to provide an education to their children, in spite of hardships they may face.
