Three high performers of the Commissioner's Hockey League, who also come from humble backgrounds have been awarded sports scholarships to attend the Aitchison College.
Islamabad Chief Commissioner and Capital Development Authority Chairman Captain retired Usman Younis announced on Thursday.
The commissioner said one of these children belonged to a hawker, another to a lathe operator and the third to a retired soldier who could not afford the expense of their education. However, he said, they were awarded a sports scholarship and got admission to Aitchison College, one of the country's best institutions, due to their exceptional performance in the said league.
Everyone who contributed to the Hockey league's historic event deserves a lot of credit, he added.
The CDA chairman also thanked Khawaja Junaid Hockey Academy and Rafiq Hockey Academy for their efforts in making the event a success.
