Security has been put on red alert in Rawalpindi after a firing incident on the Pakistan Tehreeke-e-Insaf long march in Wazirabad.

It has been decided to seal highways and roads leading to the sensitive installations when the participants of the PTI march reach the Rawat area of ​​Rawalpindi. Roads from Katchery Chowk to Peshawar Road and the old airport road will be sealed with containers. The long march will be diverted from Katchehry Chowk to Murree Road via Rashid Minhas Road.

It was also decided to hand over the security of sensitive buildings to the Rangers.

A senior police officer said that the review of the security arrangements for Rawalpindi. Adiala Road turn near Kachehry Chowk will also be closed to traffic.

After the firing incident, a high-level meeting of law enforcement agencies was held to review the security.

Sources said that it has been decided to seal Peshawar Road from Kachehry Chowk to Charing Crossing and traffic from Marir Chowk to Saddar will also remain closed. The connecting roads of Murree Road will also be sealed to give safe passage to the long march participants.
