KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court has ordered the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) lawyer to submit a reply within a week on the petition filed by a retired employee of the bureau seeking his rightful dues and pension.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Junaid Ghaffar heard the contempt of court petition against the FBR chairman for not paying the dues and pension of Wahid Khursheed Kanwar despite court orders.

Petitioner's counsel Raj Ali Wahid Advocate submitted that on May 12, the court had ordered the FBR to release the pension and dues of Khawar, but despite the court orders, FBR did not make the payment.

The court should proceed against Chairman FBR Asim Ali for contempt of court, said the counsel.

FBR counsel sought time to file reply, on which the court ordered him to file it within a week. The court remarked that if the reply is not filed, the Chairman FBR will be summoned in his personal capacity.
