DERA ISMAIL KHAN:

Two Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire that took place between the troops and terrorists in Darazinda area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s province’s Dera Ismail Khan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday said.

The military’s media wing added that the Pakistan Army troops effectively “engaged” the terrorists' location.

During the intense exchange of fire, according to the ISPR, Naik Sajid Hussain, 33, a resident of Khushab and Sepoy Muhammad Israr, 26, a resident of Attock, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

“'Sanitisation' of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area,” the military’s media wing added.

On October 23, a Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom after terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire on a military post in the Hassan Khel area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, the ISPR said.

The military’s media wing identified the martyred soldier as Assistant Lance Daffadar Waqar Ali, 32, a resident of Chota Lahore.

It added that the Pakistan Army troops responded in a befitting manner.

The ISPR further said Pakistan had consistently been requesting Afghanistan to ensure effective border management. “Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for activities against [its neighbouring country],” it added.

The military’s media wing said Pakistan Army was determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of its brave soldiers further strengthened its resolve.

Earlier this month, two soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom when their convoy came under attack in the same area.

According to the ISPR back then, the Pakistan Army troops initiated a prompt response, effectively engaged and killed three terrorists.

“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists,” it added.
The terrorists remained actively involved in activities against security forces, the ISPR said.

During the intense exchange of fire, according to the military’s media wing, Lance Naik Muhammad Pannah of Pakistan Army, 30, a resident of Jaffarabad district and Sepoy Shamas Ullah of Frontier Constabulary, 36, a resident of South Waziristan district, embraced martyrdom.

On September 29, a soldier of the Pakistan Army also embraced martyrdom during a terrorist attack from inside Afghanistan across the international border, the military said.

According to the ISPR, the terrorists opened fire on Pakistani troops in the general area of Kharlachi in Kurram district of K-P.

Moreover, two soldiers embraced martyrdom in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in the General Area Esham of the North Waziristan district in the last week of September.

The ISPR said that an IED exploded, in which Naib Subedar Javed Iqbal, 42, a resident of Attock, and Naik Hussain Ahmed, 38, a resident of Okara, embraced martyrdom.
