After The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red developing remake of original game with Polish studio

CD Projekt Red's biggest and popular franchise, The Witcher, is under development for a remake of the original game on Unreal Engine 5 - a 3D game development tool.

While still in early initiation, the studio is determined to ensure the game is recreated perfectly with attention to detail and outsourced from the Polish studio Fool's Theory.

Head of CD Projekt Red, Adam Badowski, acknowledged how the popular franchise earned the studio its name, saying that, "The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projekt Red. It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then. Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger."

While the original first game wasn't as popular as The Witcher III: Wild Hunt released in 2015, the third game sold over 40 million copies and became well-liked among players, ultimately having its own live-action series on Netflix.

The Witcher Remake had been formerly discussed under the codename Canis Majoris, and since the game is still being developed by the studio, not many details can be released to fans.
