CHARSADDA:

In a shocking and brutal incident, a woman allegedly tortured and poisoned her two minor daughters to death in Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

The incident took place in the Sardheri police station’s Farm Korona area. Police told The Express Tribune that a woman severally tortured and then poisoned her two stepdaughters Sunera, 6, and Muniba, 8.

“The family was about to bury both the unfortunate children but someone informed police that they had heard the cries of the children and they suspected a murder instead of natural death of both the children. On this police interfered and took both the bodies into possession,” said a police official, adding that they discovered signs of torture on their bodies and the autopsy report confirmed that it was not a natural death.

“Both the children were tortured and poisoned too at the same time as per the autopsy report,” he said, adding that the father and mother of the children had been arrested and an FIR would be registered against them.

“The woman Sarwat Bibi and her husband Farhanudin have been arrested. The father of the children Farhan is a daily wage earner who is a resident of Nowshera and recently rented a house in Farm Korona area. He divorced his first wife and mother of both daughters and then married Sarwat Bibi. She frequently drubbed both the poor children and got rid of them by murdering them,” he said.

“An FIR has been registered in light of the autopsy report and we have started formal investigation in this case. This is a double murder case,” said the police official.
