Court bars police from arresting PTI leader
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal stopped the police from arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Senator Shibli Faraz in a case pertaining to violation of section 144 of the criminal procedure code.
During the hearing of prearrest bail application on Wednesday, the PTI leader appeared in the court along with his counsels and after hearing the arguments, the court granted bail in exchange of Rs5,000 surety bonds besides issuing a notice to the police seeking reply.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case till October 27.
It should be noted that on Tuesday, the court rejected Shibli's bail application for non-prosecution.
The Islamabad police had filed a case against PTI chief Imran Khan and other party leaders for violating Section 144 during their rally in Islamabad held last month.
According to the first information report (FIR), filed by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Anwar, the federal capital police had made announcements through loudspeakers that Section 144 was imposed in the city, however, the rally had continued.
