The second and last solar eclipse of the year occurred on Tuesday which was partially visible in different parts of Pakistan.
According to the Meteorological Department, the solar eclipse began at 2pm and ended at 6pm in the country.
The solar eclipse was more visible in the northern areas than the southern region.
Peshawar was on top of the cities with 65 per cent visibility of the solar eclipse followed by 64 per cent in Islamabad, 61 per cent in Lahore, 60 per cent in Quetta and 50 per cent in Karachi.
The Met office also shared the duration of the solar eclipse in different cities.
The phenomenon lasted from 3:43pm till 5:22pm in Islamabad; 3:49pm till 5:20pm in Lahore; 3:57pm till 5:56pm in Karachi; 3:41pm till 5:28pm in Peshawar and 3:44pm till 5:51pm in Quetta.
Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, casting its shadow down onto our planet.
A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s disk, momentarily plunging a portion of the Earth into complete darkness.
According to the Paris Observatory, Tuesday’s eclipse was only partial and the “moon’s shadow will not touch the surface of the earth at any point”.
