Smuggled goods worth Rs850m seized

On the strict orders by Chairman FBR, Asim Ahmed and directives of DG Customs Intelligence, Faiz Ahmed Chadhar for a nationwide crackdown on smuggled items, the authorities have launched a massive anti-trafficking campaign within their respective areas with limited available resources.

Sources said that under this campaign, Customs Intelligence Lahore, raided a private school and seized smuggled goods worth more than Rs850 million in the latest operation.

Sources said that Director Customs Intelligence Lahore Saima Shahzad, under the supervision of Additional Director ASO Chaudhry Rizwan Bashir, formed a team comprising Deputy Director Ali Asad, Superintendent Rai Waqar and other officers and personnel who raided a private school on a secret tip.

Recovered smuggled items included shoes, cosmetics, tools, furniture, toys, fixtures, crockery, electronics and miscellaneous items.

Director General Customs Intelligence Faiz Ahmed praised Customs Intelligence Lahore’s performance and instructed other directorates to continue crack down on smuggling.
