Newly developed police app comes in handy

Talash developed by the IT department of Sindh police to identify suspects, stolen vehicles and check criminal record

Samanabad police arrested two suspects with the help of a recently developed web-based application Talash during checking at a check post.

The suspects were riding a stolen motorcycle and also led police to two more stolen bikes. A few days ago, Sindh police unveiled an app named Talash developed by the IT department of the police to identify suspects, stolen vehicles and check criminal record by taking an image of the person being questioned. Web-powered devices loaded with the application were provided to Karachi Police which are being used regularly.

On Sunday, the Sumanabad police was busy in checking. The police are veryfying documents of the citizens. During checking, two persons were stopped and searched. Meanwhile, when the documents of his bike were checked, the app declared it as stolen.

The motorcycle was stolen from Sharifabad area. The police authorities immediately took the two persons into custody and transferred them to the police station. In the initial investigation, the accused Zeeshan and Aslam said that they belong to a motorcycle lifting gang. The gang has stolen several motorcycles so far. On their identification, the police recovered two more motorcycles. Both the motorcycles were stolen from the supermarket and Samanabad neighbourhoods of the Liaqutabad area.
