Traders staged a sit-in on Nishtar Road on Sunday as part of their protest against frequent and long-hour load-shedding in the commercial centers of the city. They shuttered their shops and took part in the sit-in.
The shopkeepers said that they would not call off their protest until K-Electric ends load-shedding in the commercial centers. Another sit-in will be staged at Lea Market Chowk on Wednesday.
Sunday’s sit-in disrupted traffic flow on Nishtar Road. The protesters decried that K-Electric was carrying out load-shedding in Generators Market, Bearing Market, Saria Market, and Timber Market on Nishtar Road despite 100 percent bill recoveries.
The sit-in was led by Chairman All City Tajirs Association Sharjeel Gopalani, Vice Chairman Zahid Amin, Chaudhry Ayub, Zubair Ali Khan, Mohammad Usman Attari, Sabir Bangash, Tahir Sarbazi, Shabbir Bhurhiwala, Tahir Qureshi, Farhan Agaria and others.
