Two cops martyred in K-P terror attacks

Attackers manage to escape in both cases

CHARSADDA/ DI KHAN:

Despite the government claims that there is a considerable improvement in law and order situation, attacks at police continue non-stop across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), as on Saturday, two more policemen were killed in two separate incidents in Charssada and South Waziristan districts.

A police constable Bilal was gunned down by unidentified miscreants in Turangzai area of Charsadda district while on his way to duty.

“He was posted at Munda Head Works and was going to the Election Commission Charsadda office on a motorcycle for special duty when he was attacked,” a police official told The Express Tribune.

The attackers managed to escape following the incident and the body of the deceased policeman was shifted to DHQ Hospital Charsadda for legal proceedings and post-mortem.

Following the incident, police tightened the checks on the entry and exit routes of the city and conducted a search operation in the area.

The last rites of the slain policeman were offered at Charsadda police lines with full guard of honour.

Later the coffin was sent to ancestral graveyard for burial.

Police registered an FIR and started investigation in the case.

In a separate incident, terrorists opened fire at Azam Warsak police station in the equally troubled South Waziristan district.

Police and security forces returned the fire, forcing the attackers to flee.

During the exchange of fire, however, mohrir Fazal Malik received a bullet and lost his life.

It is not the first time that Azam Warsak police station has been attacked.

It may be mentioned here that this month a police constable has been shot dead in the troubled DI Khan district of the province and a constable was left critically injured in Lakki Marwat district.

Large scale protests were observed in Swat, Lakki Marwat and other parts of the province against the arrival of militants and an attack at a police van which killed the driver.

Police later claimed that it was not an act of terrorism and the driver was killed over a family dispute.
