PESHAWAR:

Supporters and party workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday took to the streets across the province and blocked all important roads as a protest against Imran Khan’s disqualification in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway was blocked for all kinds of vehicular traffic for more than four hours.

In Peshawar the PTI workers closed down the Motorway Interchange, Hayatabad Phase III Chowk and other roads for hours, causing great inconvenience to the general public.

Provincial Ministers Taimur Saleem Jhagra and Kamran Khan Bangash were also present on the occasion.

Later the provincial ministers ordered the party supporters to open the roads after which the protest was called off in the evening and roads were opened.

Workers chanted slogans against the election commission and said that the disqualification is unacceptable.

Reference against disqualification

PTI Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has decided to table a reference against the disqualification of Imran Khan in the provincial assembly and the session of the assembly has been called on Saturday in emergency.

Provincial Minister Shaukat Yousafzai has dismissed rumours that the K-P Assembly will be dissolved but said that all other options will be used against the decision.

He said that the party had decided to show its full street power against the disqualification decision and an emergency session of the assembly has been called to discuss the issue.
