ISLAMABAD:

President Dr Arif Alvi on Friday emphasised the need for enhancing bilateral trade with France as the trade volume of $1.8 billion in 2021 was well below the existing potential. The president, while talking to Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to France Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, called for holding regular meetings and exploring more opportunities for commercial collaboration, especially in the fields of IT, start-ups, agriculture and livestock. He asked the ambassador-designate to work with the French side to organise the inaugural session of the Joint Economic Commission, as it would be useful in boosting the economic relationship. President Alvi underlined the need for arranging a visit by Medef (French business association) to Pakistan, which would help deepen trade and investment relations and bring more French companies to Pakistan.
