Another cop shot dead in Dera
Yet another police constable was gunned down in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Thursday.
The attackers also took away his AK-47 rifle with them.
Police told The Express Tribune that Constable Muhammad Aslam was on his way to Benazir Income Support Program office in the morning, where he had been deployed, when unidentified miscreants opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.
They snatched his official rifle and made good their escape after committing the crime.
“The attack took place in the jurisdiction of Purwa police station. A large number of police reached the spot soon after the attack and a door-to-door search operation was initiated in the area but the attackers managed to escape,” said a police official, adding that the slain constable was deployed for the security of Benazir Income Support Program on Indus Highway.
“He was rushed to the hospital but he had succumbed to his injuries before reaching there,” he said.
The last rites of the slain constable were offered at the Dera Police Lines with full guard of honour. Police high-ups and district administration attended the funeral prayers.
Later the coffin was sent to the deceased’s ancestral village for burial.
Constable Injured
A police constable was left seriously injured when unidentified persons fired at him in Lakki Marwat on Wednesday night.
Constable Kaleemulah Khan lodged an FIR with CTD police in the hospital, stating that he is a police constable and is currently completing his refresher course in Nowshera.
“I was on leave in my village from the course and sent to fields to cut grass for cattle. On my way back unidentified persons opened fire at me, leaving me seriously injured,” he stated, adding that the attackers were riding a bike who approached me, opened fire and then escaped.
He said that he had no personal feud with anyone.
“I also fired at the attackers but they escaped unhurt,” he said. Police registered an FIR and started investigation in the case.
